Inside My Wedding Day Emergency Kit
Every wedding planner has one, but they rarely get discussed in detail. Today, I am sharing with you what is inside my Wedding Day Emergency Kit. I’ll give you a behind the scenes look at each of the products I carry with me to a client’s wedding, and I’ll even include links to purchase the items as well!

As an event and wedding planner in Houston, it is important for me to always stay a step ahead for my clients, they have so much to think about and do, one way I try to alleviate some of those pressures, is to think about things that can come up on the day of the wedding, and provide tools to correct those issues. Enter the Wedding Day Emergency Kit.
The Wedding Day Emergency Kit is a tool box that every wedding planner carries (or they should!) and the contents of the kit varies by planner. I’m excited to give you an inside look at the products that I keep in my kit, so lets dive in!
The Staples
Sewing Kit
Wardrobe malfunctions are common practice at weddings. Snag a dress or rip a pant seam, if you don’t have a sewing kit handy, neglecting those wardrobe issues could cause you, or your wedding party, to look in tatters when its time for the ceremony. Keeping a sewing kit packed in your wedding box could save your big day for sure! The Coquimbo Traveler has a wide array of thread colors, sewing needles, thread scissors, and a few pins to keep fabric closed in place.
First Aid Kit
It should go without saying, but I was always taught that nothing good comes from assuming, so I have this listed in the Staples section. A First Aid Kit is absolutely mandatory to keep close by on your wedding day. It will have everything you need to treat and cover scrapes, cuts, small burns, and any other minor injury that can arise from heightened normal activity.
Medication
Tylenol
I don’t think I’ve been at a wedding where someone didn’t ask me for pain reliever. I always keep Tylenol in my Wedding Day Emergency Kit. It relieves minor pains associated with headaches, menstrual pain, its a fever reducer, and as an added bonus, it helps ease the tension of a 12 hour day spent on my feet. Seriously, Tylenol, or some form of a pain reliever, is a must-have in your Wedding Day Emergency Kit.
Alka Seltzer
An upset stomach can be one of the debilitating things to go through on an important day. Maybe its just me, but I am down for the count if my tummy hurts. LOL I always keep Alka Seltzer on me to help a wedding party member if they ate something bad the day before, or even if they’re nursing a hangover. I don’t like using it for nausea, but all other stomach aches or heart burn get treated with Alka Seltzer.
Pinkstork Nausea Sweets
Remember how I said that I personally don’t treat nausea with Alka Seltzer? It is because I swear by these sweet lozenges from Pinkstork! Often times, nausea sets in when you’re really nervous, or in a high-pressured situation, much like a wedding! So by keeping these in my Wedding Day Emergency Kit, I have a little nausea remedy quickly at my fingertips.
Carmex
Maybe its because I remember my grandmother always carrying it in her purse, and my mother always kept a jar in her make up bag, that leads me to include Carmex in my Wedding Day Emergency Kit. Dry, chapped lips are a nightmare on a wedding day, especially if you know you’re going to be smiling for photos for hours on end. A little dab of some Carmex on your lips will provide quick comfort, so you can get through the next 7 photos with your aunt and uncle.
Personal Care
Tampons
I won’t pretend to act like I personally use these. I do keep them in my Wedding Day Emergency Kit because experience has taught me that sometimes women don’t get a lot of advance warning that they will need to use one of these. So, if the symptoms start on the day of the wedding, I carry these in my Wedding Day Emergency Kit!
Hairspray
There is always a wedding party member running around the venue with 4 or 5 flyaways on top of their head, or someone almost always forgets to pack their hairspray. Never fear if I’m at your wedding though! I keep Biolage Styling Finishing Spritz in my Wedding Day Emergency Kit for those reasons. The things that I like about this particular hairspray is that it is aerosol-free and vegan.
Sanitizing Wipes
Getting-Ready Rooms at Weddings aren’t always the most sanitary places. You and your friends are packed into a room and you’re getting ready, eating, drinking, and changing clothes. Those little spills and messes can start to add up! That’s why I always keep a tube of these sanitizing wipes in my Wedding Day Emergency Kit. Not to mention, these last 2 years has taught us that you can never be too sanitary!
Food & Beverage
Clif Bars
On the day of the wedding, its easy to get so caught up with all of the tasks and activities leading up to the ceremony, that you can forget to eat. I always keep some Clif Bars in my Wedding Day Emergency Kit, that way my client and their guests can have something quick and nutritious to keep their stomachs, and smiles, full!
Capri Sun
I promise its not just for nostalgia. Capri Sun is an insanely portable drink that fits well with wedding day preparations. Its a pouch, so it fits well when you need to pack a few in your bag, and it has a straw! A straw might seem like a silly thing to get excited about, but straws are vital for wedding parties on the wedding day. Your make up artist wouldn’t be too happy if you smudged your lipstick 10 minutes after it was applied! So for those reasons, I always keep Capri Sun in my Wedding Day Emergency Kit.
Bottled Water
You must stay hydrated. Now, granted, I go the artisanal route for the bottled water I keep in my Wedding Day Emergency Kit, but you should absolutely have some sort of water in yours! This is especially true if your venue is in a rural area. The challenge and time it takes to get to a store to purchase some on the day of the wedding is too much, save yourself the heartache and dry mouth by packing some ahead of time!
Straws
One of the main reasons I pack Capri Sun is because it has a straw. So, I keep straws in my Wedding Day Emergency Kit for all the drinks that aren’t served in pouches. Seriously, sipping anything without a straw when you have fresh painted lips, is just asking for a disaster! Its also a bonus that these straws are environmentally friendly as well.
Miscellaneous
Tide Pen
Spills happen. When they do, you’ll want a quick solution to take the stain out. For me, that has always been Tide Pens. I keep them in my Wedding Day Emergency Kit so that I can fight stains in gowns, suits, and everything in between.
Chalk
Chalk? Yes Chalk! I once had a bride spill some juice on bodice of her wedding gown just as she was about to meet her dad before walking down the aisle. Concealing the stain by rubbing some chalk over it, allowed the Bride to still walk down the aisle and take her post-ceremony portraits without feeling self conscious, or looking disheveled. It is a very specific emergency, but now I always keep chalk in my Wedding Day Emergency Kit!
Sharpies
Forgetting markers as part of your guest book display is the leading cause of empty guestbook pages. Obviously, I don’t know that for certain, but I know 50/50, couples always forget markers or writing utensils to lay out with their guest book, or display. That is why I always have a pack of sharpies in my Wedding Day Emergency Kit.
LED Votives
I always keep a set of LED Votive candles in my Wedding Day Emergency Kit. Who ever said “No, thats too many candles.” No one. This way, if I see an area that needs a little touch of something, or another candle is defaulting, I can come to the rescue with a spare!
Bobby Pins
I have never been onsite to set up the wedding day, and not heard a member of the wedding party ask for a bobby pin. Someone always wants to pin a piece of hair back, or secure something, and thats why I keep these bad boys in my Wedding Day Emergency Kit.
Safety Pins
Same rules apply for these as was the case for bobby pins. I bring them out when Bobby just won’t do the trick.
Well, there is my Wedding Day Emergency Kit! What would you suggest I add to mine? Does it look similar to what you’ve seen other places? I want to hear about it!
